What is a shareholder register?
A register of shareholders, also known as a share register, is a list maintained by the company that lists the names and addresses of shareholders, along with the amount deposited by each.
This register also indicates whether the shares are pledged or usufructed.
Example: "New shareholder register becomes publicly accessible - There will be a publicly accessible register of major shareholders of private companies in the Netherlands. This measure, stemming from a European anti-money laundering directive, has raised objections from family businesses due to privacy concerns."
