What is a shareholder?
A shareholder is the owner of a share and thus (economically) co-owner of a company. The shareholder provides equity to a company and therefore has certain rights, such as voting rights and the right to dividends. Shareholders play a crucial role in the governance of a company, where they exert influence through the shareholders' meeting and can be involved in decisions such as the appointment of directors.
