What is deglobalization?
"Deglobalization" (also known as de-globalisation) is the opposite of globalization and refers to a development in which there is increasing protectionism, decreasing willingness to cooperate internationally, less integration, and a decrease in mutual economic dependencies between countries. As a result, cross-border investments decrease and world trade declines.
This trend can lead to less growth in exports and reduced economic growth, especially for countries that are highly dependent on international trade. Deglobalization is closely related to the term "geo-economic fragmentation" and reflects a world in which countries are increasingly focusing on their own economies instead of on global cooperation.
