What does accumulate mean?

Accumulate means to accumulate or allow to grow. It is an analyst's advice to buy more of a particular share, adding more shares to an already existing position. This advice is often given when the position is already profitable and it is expected that the price will continue to rise. Other terms used for this advice are 'buy' or 'add'.

Example: "Dexia's core profit was better than expected. My advice remains to accumulate."
