Your data, safe with Vive
Data security in the news
For years, data security has been a major topic in the news. Leaked password lists, DDoS attacks and hacked institutions: the list seems endless. As a result, more and more people are placing (even more) value on their digital security. Especially when it comes to finances. And rightly so, because information about your financial situation is best kept to yourself.
Find out how Vive secures your data in this article. You'll learn why your data is safe, how our data architecture works and how we transmit and secure information.
Vive's data security at a glance
Vive is committed to securing your data in the best possible way. Here's a quick look at how we do it:
- Vive is an internet-based platform where security is fundamentally built in
- Vive uses a thin-client architecture: hardly any data is stored locally
- Vive is stateless: any change of information is re-authorised
- Vive uses a passwordless login to minimise the risk of hacking
- Vive runs entirely in Amazon's data centres: secure and up-to-date
- All incoming and outgoing communication and data storage is encrypted

Safe from the ground up
How can a company like Vive compete with large banks and institutions, which spend millions on security? The answer is simple: Vive has built its platform and app with modern (data) security as the most important starting point.
The systems of banks and other institutions were often built before the Internet era. As a result, they are constantly behind the times. They have to secure old systems with new technology, because these outdated systems are fundamentally unsafe. It is therefore much more complex for these organisations to secure their (data) systems properly. We are not saying that banks and large organisations are insecure. The point we are making is that Vive has been designed from the ground up for modern data security.
Secured from the core
For the Vive app, we chose a thin-client architecture. All information, calculations and processes are stored within the Vive platform. An advantage of this is that hardly any information is stored on your phone. The information that is stored is fully encrypted.
In addition, the architecture of the Vive app is stateless. This means that every request for information is re-authenticated. With each exchange it is checked whether the requester is also the owner of the information.
Login without password
Vive uses passwordless login. We are convinced that this is safer than logging in with a user name and password. When people choose for themselves, they often go for a password that is easy to remember. And an easy-to-remember password is easy to crack. But even if you choose a difficult password, it is only really safe if you change it regularly. And in practice, that rarely happens.
With a passwordless login, you receive a one-time password in your inbox at each login. This password is only valid for five minutes. So this means you can access Vive whenever you have access to your email. Without the risk that your password can be cracked.
Everything in the cloud
Vive's platform runs entirely in Amazon's data centres. This means that we automatically have access to the most up-to-date technology and best practices. A recent penetration test proved this once again. During this test, a cybersecurity company tried to break in and discover weaknesses. They were unsuccessful, and not a single weak point was found. Because Amazon constantly keeps its technologies up to date, we continue to have the best security. We also have our data security tested annually by an independent data security agency. That way, we know for sure that we have no blind spots.
We use only EU data centres for all customer data. This means that all customer information is subject to EU law and therefore beyond the reach of non-EU governments.
Always encrypted
All communication between the platform and the outside world is encrypted. This means that any interceptions will result in completely useless information. Your customer data is also stored in encrypted form. Any physical access, which is highly unlikely, also results in unusable files.
