What is an active fund?
An active fund is a mutual fund actively managed by fund managers who make strategic choices to outperform the market. This means that the fund managers actively select stocks that they expect to outperform.
The fund is usually followed intensively by analysts, especially when it is little traded. If it is a stock, it is also called a trading stock.
This contrasts with a passive fund, which simply follows an index without active selection.
